This is my home. This is the place where I grew up. I don’t have the effort to shut down all the “African” stereotypes, so hopefully you’ll gain better insight into Nigeria throughout this blog.
The first picture is of my crazy family. We all somehow get along! As you can see by the dated photo stamp, this was taken a while ago. I have an older sister, a twin and a younger brother. My parents are fabulous and absolutely amazing and living across the country from them makes my heart so sad.
Looking back, Nigeria has almost become a vision. I remember it, yet it is growing more distant in my memory. Luckily, my family brings up all our childhood memories whenever i’m home for the holidays. Refreshers into what it was like growing up in Nigeria.

This picture is a rainstorm heading towards the city on our way home.
As a child, my playtime activities in Nigeria involved playing outside every second of the day. We didn’t have cable (and if we did it was in Arabic or Hausa((the most common languages in Nigeria))). We didn’t have malls, skating rinks, beaches, amusement parks, bowling alley’s or movie theaters. Pretty much we just had our neighbors and a few bikes.
This picture is a glimpse into what we did as kids after a rainstorm.

I grew up learning how to explore and how to create fun and adventure wherever I am in the world. I know I want to instill that passion in my future household and with my kiddies.
More stories from Nigeria will come in future blog posts!
(this pic is from wayyyy back in the day but I designed Heather’s (far left) dress and mine and I made Marie’s! (far right)
